Happy Thursday, loves! So I went through my posts & I was trying to figure out what I’ve been missing that I haven’t completely reviewed or given my little speech about that was from my beloved @drunkelephant line. There’s one very important (to me) topic that I want to throw out there..... CLEANSING. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ My philosophy may not be the same for you, but for my used-to-be oily acne prone mess of skin, this WORKS. In the AM (as long as I did not use any product containing silicone in my night routine) I only do a quick splash of water on my face to remove some dead skin cells that have loosened over night (due to my chem. exfoliating) that’s it! I repeat I DO NOT CLEANSE IN AM. At night, different story. I used to double cleanse. An oil/balm makeup removing step followed by a gentle cleanser, toner, blah blah.. but i DONT anymore. That was too harsh and stripping for my skin & legit banned toners from then on out. I simply use the gentle DE Beste No. 9 which will remove my makeup and cleanse in ONE STEP. or, I will just use their cleansing bars (Pekee and JuJu) if I’m not wearing makeup. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Let’s break this down a little bit. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Cleansing in the morning is absolutely unnecessary in my eyes. At night, we cleanse the crap out of our skin, pack back in all the moisture and acids etc it can hold and then we sleep. **key is I don’t use silicones** So in the morning literally all I need to do is wipe off (with water) the dead skin cells that (acid) loosened up and get them off my face. All of my other products are water soluable & will rinse off. This leaves my skin already balanced (no need for toner, they’re drying usually anyway) & not stripped of moisture.

At night, you have all the grime from the day and/or makeup and you should wash that away with a gentle cleanser (balancing your skin by looking for a pH around 6 in your cleanser) & be done with it. ⁣⁣⁣

If I am out and want to wear a full face of makeup double cleansing is the way to go, sure! In that case I love Beste No.9 (pH of 5.9) to remove all the makeup and I follow up with one of the hydrating yet effective DE cleansing bars. Pekee (pH of 6.5) is an amazing cleansing bar with honey and marula oil in it to keep that moisture in your skin but it also doesn’t leave a creepy soap film. If I need a little physical exfoliation I reach for my JuJu bar. JuJu has clay & bamboo powder in it making the exfoliating portion extremely fine & gentle (with pH of 6.3)⁣⁣.

Love you all and thanks for reading!⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ #cleansingbars #drunkelephant#DEcleansingbars #drunkelephantcleansers#pekeebar #bareface #makeupremove
